In many Worldbuilding sessions and story documents, the company called Regal Care Interplanetary has been mentioned. Featured in Tablelake Arisen, this company manufactures and sells home and bath products with ‘transformative’ capabilities. This document will review both the company itself and the celestial behind it.
About Astarte and Regal Care Interplanetary
Regal Care Interplanetary is a creation from Mythical Mistress from DeviantART, who designed Astarte, Zachery Riverty, and all the other main characters to be put into Tablelake Arisen. With his permission, Regal Care has arrived in Penumaria, with additional products in the Penumaria catalog. While his original version of the material will differ in ways from what is shown in Penumaria, The spirit of Regal Care remains the same: Transforming an ordinary person into a Royal.
Regal Care Interplanetary was founded by a New Generation Celestial known as Astarte the Matriarch. Her origin in Tales of Penumaria is a combination of what is found in the initial worldbuilding document and what is contained on the Regal Care Additional Information page. Initially, she was an angelic being under a lesser-known deity named Siamorphe, a deity of nobility and its rights and responsibilities. After the First Sundering, Penumaria lost many Celestials (Divine beings who might have the power of godliness and the responsibilities that brings but deny the form). Siamorphe, by the suggestion of higher deities in Mount Celestia, sent this angel to Penumaria.
Once this angel had arrived in Penumaria, they found themselves in Eastern Grekeraidia (See the article on Northeastern Refugina for more information on Grekeraidia.) in the ruins of a Greek-like temple of a love goddess named Astarte (the name of the angel up to this time is unknown.) They were told about several Celestials who perished in a global war known as The First Sundering, and the angel several found numerous traps protecting the prized treasures of the fallen Astarte, with all the rooms and puzzles and iconography decorated in a theme of Love and Nobility.
In 1522 FR, The angel decided to become the recreation of this Celestial for her new rule, and since she needed a host body, the temple was to serve as a test for the one worthy to be that host. However, they believed death to be an uncharacteristic penalty for such a test. Thus, those who fail the test end up imprisoned inside a crystal where they will experience the nature of love and nobility of Astarte’s nature and will wake up when Astarte’s physical form is made to become her followers. At the heart of this temple, surrounded by luxurious gowns and gold, a gem-encrusted tiara with a significant crystal point waited for a fortunate soul. The angel slept within the tiara, eventually losing their form and identity, waiting for someone worthy to put it on.
The intrepid explorer was Mildred Jemary, a local explorer and philanthropist. A hometown heroine, Millie was a frequent sight in town, handling various jobs from the Adventurers’ guild and giving back to her community. When not working with the guild, Millie was often exploring the surrounding areas and providing maps and charts for the town.
Eventually, she came across the temple of Astarte. Venturing inside, Millie found herself face to face with puzzles and traps more elaborate than any she had seen in her adventures. Thrilled by these challenges, she eventually entered the chamber where the tiara awaited her. Taking the beautiful relic in her hands, she rested it on her head. After doing so, a dazzling light enveloped the chamber. It was the last conscious thought Millie had as Millie.
After the light dissipated, what stood in Millie’s place was no longer a mere mortal woman, but a towering, beautiful and regal noblewoman. As she came to grips with her new form, she realized that she didn’t remember who she is. She might have an inkling of who she was, but that wasn’t her. As she looked around for clues, she found that she was in a temple of a Goddess named Astarte the Matriarch. She then thought she was her, and then Astarte’s memories flooded her, ensconcing her as Astarte as her identity.
Now that Astarte was reawakened, those who had failed the trials previously were released from their crystal imprisonment. Desensitized from extended time in crystalline stasis, the newest followers to the Goddess Astarte bowed to her instinctively, praising her and worshipping the beauty she was. Overcome with her beauty, her followers followed their Goddess from the temple.
Much to her surprise, the newly crafted Celestial found herself in a quandary; it seemed everyone she spoke to, or even spoke to her, fell madly in love with her. Naturally, this put her in a difficult bind with the townspeople she had once been genuinely enamored with her. As such, Astarte did her best to cover herself from head to toe and used a proper mask to prevent her allure from drawing further amorous attention. Though she was plain in her life as Millie Jemary, she wondered if the celestial of love she had become was all for show; that everyone would love her for what she was, or simply love her due to the enthralling nature of her powers. In Tablelake Arisen, she will find her answers.
As her worshippers grew in number, Astarte formed a plan to contend with the difficulty of her new status and station. In her times as an adventurer Millie believed that everyone, regardless of class, has an idealized form of themselves: Be it celebrity, politician, king or queen, or anything else their heart truly desires. Perhaps her ability to foster affections in others could help them discover their Regal Selves.
Eventually, a business formed from this philosophy named ‘Regal Care’. Her product line, infused with trace amounts of her power, allowed those who used it to discover their inner beauty and bring out their most regal of appearances. Upon returning to the temple from her initial foray into town, she asked her many followers to restore the temple to its original beauty and to construct additional storehouses for the products she wished to market. Though Grekeraidia was a small region, she heard of a nearby land of great population and prosperity across the western sea.
In due time, the continent of Refugina would be introduced to the wondrous products of Regal Care.
Regal Care during the time points.
By Tablelake Arisen, Regal Care has only started to make itself known. On many occasions, a sample product ends up on peoples’ doorsteps as part of a standard delivery service. When the plain-looking package is opened, the true nature of the box emerges, with color, gold embossing, and satin textures. The package would have a letter that looks hand-written, a small instructional catalog, and a few samples of the Regal Care products.
By Amber of the Woods, Regal Care is more well known. Most nobility swears by at least one product, others use at least a few products from the company, and at least one has put their offspring through ‘the Royal Treatment™’ to make them more presentable as proper heirs. Every now and then someone still finds a ‘Care Package,’ even though their ‘Regal Self’ might not be that of a ruling noble. Often a fine-kept secret, it has actually begun to appear in small quantities in high-end boutiques. Naturally, Regal Care is a bit expensive compared to more mundane items, but rave reviews and word of mouth certainly justify such a price tag.
The Care Package.
The usual tactic for Regal Care deals with the Care Package mentioned earlier. The Matriarch, or one of her servants whom she could look and hear through, would wander around the realm looking for someone with a Regal Self that interests her. Unsurprisingly, very few of these care packages end up in the hands of nobility; these are reserved for cases of special interest to the Matriarch herself.
After studying her intended recipient, she custom builds the Care Package for the individual and delivers it with unassuming packaging, in the hopes it will help turn their life around. As the recipient makes use of those products, their Regal Self emerges; they gain the knowledge, wisdom, compassion, and honor that it takes to take charge of not just their lives, but to be a true inspiration to others as well. The rise of many a popular celebrity or hero may have started with something as simple as a box on a doorstep.
It is possible and expected that some are satisfied with only basic use of Regal Care products; not everyone desires to be a King or Queen after all. Still, the resulting betterment of their lives spreads the word of Regal Care’s benefits to others, and the business compounds upon itself.
Regardless of what happens, the recipient would have a visit by a representative of Regal Care. This person would look for feedback from the individual so that they can improve on Regal Care products. Due to the demand for such a fantastic line of life-changing products, the company is perpetually looking for new talent to bring out the Regal Self in those around them.
This supplementary document contains not only the stat block for Astarte but also information about Regal Care, including a comprehensive list of Regal Care products. The majority of these products pear in play through Tablelake Arisen. There will also be a supplementary Adventuring Gear table where Regal Care products can be purchased by Player Characters in Penumaria.
